the someday weekly plan

For a long time I planned my week every Sunday and the thing I wanted to build for myself still didn't get done. Not because I didn't want to do it. Because I was planning in the wrong order.

This one page helped my planning process to make sure I am including my full-time job, kids who need to be everywhere, and a business I'm building on the side.

four steps, in this order

  1. start with what's already decided. the anchors on your calendar, and the gaps between them.
  2. empty your head, then sort it. brain dump, what can move, and your someday project.
  3. pick one step and give it a place. one action, on a real day, with a time.
  4. plan for the leaks. the places your time keeps slipping, and one rule for each.

This process take about 15 minutes on a normal week.

My biggest lesson on the weeks that fall apart, getting to protect 30 minutes still counts.

every day. on purpose.
